Role: Health and Safety Advisor
Location: Oxford
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 DOE
Contract Type: Permanent | Full-Time
Hours: Monday to Friday, Days
The Role
We’re supporting a well-established civil engineering contractor in their search for a hands-on Health and Safety Advisor across the Oxford region. You’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving safe working practices on live sites, supporting project teams, and ensuring compliance with legislation and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct site visits, inspections, and internal audits to ensure compliance
- Advise teams on safe working practices, legislation updates, and compliance expectations
- Lead incident and accident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented
- Prepare and review RAMS, COSHH assessments, and Construction Phase Plans
- Work closely with clients, regulatory bodies, and insurers on project-specific safety issues
- Support pre-construction planning to ensure safety is built into every project
- Maintain and improve company safety systems and accreditations
- Deliver briefings, toolbox talks, and mentor junior safety staff
- Identify opportunities to improve procedures and raise overall safety standards
What You’ll Bring
- NEBOSH, IOSH, NVQ or City & Guilds qualification in Health & Safety
- CSCS card
- Experience in construction, groundworks, civil engineering, or new build housing
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence teams at all levels
- Proven reporting, auditing, and investigation skills
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the region
