**Job Description**
The People Experience Team promotes excellence in people by supporting TEAM RVH through the employee life cycle by delivering innovative people strategies and programs that attract and retain TEAM RVH and support a highly engaged workforce that feels valued, recognized, and safe and allows them to grow to reach their full potential.
The People Safety team manages all workplace safety requirements, ensuring legislative requirements are met and that all injuries and illnesses are prevented by managing, identifying, and/or investigating safety hazards and risks.
As an intern, you will offer support to all Safety team members. In addition to performing traditional department intern duties such as word processing, filing, copying, and data entry the intern will assist with respirator fit testing, completion of workplace violence risk assessments, and support other health and safety policies.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Enrolled in post-secondary education in Health Care, Health Sciences, Occupational Health, Safety (or closely related). Must be returning to school the following academic year.
- Excellent computer skills with an emphasis on MS Office required
- Experience in Occupational Health and Safety an asset
- Health and Safety training an asset
- Understanding of relevant legislation, code of ethics, practice standards, workplace policies and procedures, human rights legislation, and other municipal, provincial and federal legislation applicable to the workplace an asset
- Demonstrated excellence in communication skills, both verbal and written
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, including tact, diplomacy, sensitivity, patience and common sense
- Demonstrated excellence in self-management, attention to detail, ability to prioritize multiple tasks, and perform duties without supervision
- Strong initiative with proven ability to prioritize activities for the best interest of the team when working on joint projects
- Proven flexibility and ability to adapt positively to change
- Ability to correctly make decisions involving client issues/problems including when to escalate the problem to a more senior member of the team
- Ability to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills
- High attention to detail and data accuracy with strict adherence to policies and handling of confidential information
WORK SCHEDULE
- Travel between RVH locations as required
Please note there could be a need to work the occasional evening or weekend day or evening based on organizational needs.
