Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator

IMMEDIATE job opportunity for a driven individual who has a proven track record of performance and desire to work for a well-established organization. We are looking for an experienced Environment, Health and Safety Coordinator for a major manufacturer of innovative foam products for sleep (mattresses, pillows), home furnishings, healthcare (medical pads, cushions), and transportation (automotive) located in Orange, CA.

Environment, Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing and overseeing company's employee safety and compliance to regulatory environmental compliance at work, adhering to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) guidelines to reduce work-related injuries and environment incidents.

Position Responsibilities

· Implement and manage EHS programs, policies and procedures.

· Participate or lead investigations that are related to injuries, near misses and other incidents that are related to EHS. Serve as primary custodian of these records.

· Maintain and manage various documentation in-regards to EHS training activities and action trackers (Safety Recognition Program, Near-Miss/Hazard Conditions reports, weekly training, yearly training, yearly physicals, fit testing, Recycling, etc.).

· Develop as a trainer for various safety and environmental programs (Forklift Safety, Fall Protection, Respiratory Protection, LOTO, Hazard Communication, Hazardous Waste, Hearing Conservation, Fire drills simulation, etc.)

· Safety champion for monthly safety committee meetings. Work with EHS Manager to prepare meeting agenda and weekly safety topics. Follow up with plant management on safety concerns that are conveyed by the committee members and other employees. Track concerns through resolution.

· Tour and inspect the facility regularly to establish EHS presence and perform weekly and monthly compliance inspections of various areas of the facility.

· Participate in regulatory inspections from outside agencies and ensure compliance.

· Perform or oversee storm water discharge sampling and documentation.

· Maintain and post SDS records. Keep books current.

· Report to EHS Manager progress toward all safety metrics twice monthly and when requested.

· Complete special projects as needed when assigned.

· Creates and execute to regulatory and corporate training schedule (Monthly, Quarterly and Yearly)

Position Qualifications

· MS Office proficient.

· Possess an understanding of OSHA and/or EPA regulatory standards.

· OSHA 511, or 30-Hour OSHA Certification required within 1 year of placement in this position.

· Ability to communicate in both small and large group settings as well as various levels of management.

· Willingness to become qualified for participating in first response operations (medical or chemical release).

· Ability to work flexible schedules and/or overtime as required.

· Ability to work with teams and lead decision-making processes in a team environment.

· Highly motivated, results oriented, driven.

· Must demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Compensation: $28/hr.
