Safety Manager

Fluid Motion LLC — manufacturer of Cutwater Boats and Ranger Tugs — is expanding operations and seeking an experienced Safety Manager to join our growing team.

We are looking for a fun, energetic individual who enjoys learning new things, thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and is passionate about workplace safety, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement.

Hours: Monday-Friday 6am-2:30pm

Pay: $85,000-$100,000/DOE

Travel: We have locations in Arlington, Monroe and Auburn. Travel to all locations will be required. Most travel is between Arlington and Monroe.

Position Summary

The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining all company safety and environmental compliance programs. This position ensures compliance with OSHA, Washington State L&I, EPA, DOT HazMat, and other applicable regulatory requirements while promoting a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication and organizational skills, experience in manufacturing or marine environments, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesSafety & Regulatory Compliance

• Maintain compliance with OSHA, L&I, and all applicable regulatory standards in company procedures and policies.
• Develop, implement, and maintain company safety policies and procedures.
• Inspect work sites and facilities to ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company safety policies.
• Inspect and verify proper operation of safety equipment and devices.
• Maintain OSHA 300 logs and all required OSHA reporting documentation.
• Prepare and maintain OSHA and safety compliance reports.
• Develop and maintain the Employee Safety Handbook.
• Coordinate and manage L&I inspections, appeals, and abatement processes.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Safety Training & Employee Programs

• Provide new-hire safety orientation and ongoing employee safety training.
• Conduct monthly safety meetings and toolbox talks.
• Administer safety training programs, including:
• Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
• Hazard Communication
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Accident Prevention
• Respiratory Protection
• Forklift Safety
• Administer Hearing Conservation Program requirements.
• Perform respirator fit testing and maintain required documentation and records.

Incident Investigation & Safety Committees

• Conduct accident, incident, and near-miss investigations and recommend corrective actions.
• Organize and attend safety committee meetings, including preparation of agendas, meeting minutes, and supporting documentation.

Environmental Compliance

• Coordinate with outside vendors for required environmental and safety testing.
• Submit and manage applications for Air, Hazardous Waste, and Stormwater permits.
• Prepare and submit required environmental reports, including:
• Air emissions reports
• Form R reporting
• Tier II reporting
• Stormwater reports
• Pollution prevention documentation
• Hazardous waste generator profiles
• Annual hazardous waste reports
• Material usage reports
• Review materials and processes for environmental compliance concerns.
• Ensure compliance with Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAP) and Air Toxics requirements.
• Ensure compliance with DOT HazMat regulations.

Documentation & Operational Support

• Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all port operations and facilities.
• Perform monthly inspections and coordinate annual maintenance of fire extinguishers.
• Maintain working knowledge of:
• Federal Clean Air Act requirements
• MACT standards for boat building
• Washington Administrative Code (WAC) safety standards

Qualifications

• 5+ years of safety and environmental compliance experience in manufacturing, marine, or industrial environments preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT HazMat, and Washington State L&I regulations.
• Experience conducting safety training and incident investigations.
• Ability to interpret and apply environmental and safety regulations.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety recordkeeping systems.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
