Quality & Safety Coordinator

Foundation Steel

Position Overview

As a Quality & Safety Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting Foundation Steel's commitment to zero incidents, zero compromises, and zero surprises. You'll help ensure that fabrication, erection, and field operations are conducted in alignment with regulatory requirements, company standards, and industry best practices.

You'll collaborate closely with project teams, field crews, subcontractors, and leadership to identify hazards before they occur, promote quality workmanship, and foster a culture where safety is integrated into every decision.

This is an in-office and field-based position, with regular travel to active job sites across the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support the development, review, and execution of project-specific safety plans, tailored work-site hazard analyses (JHAs), toolbox talks, and daily hazard cards.
  • Conduct regular site and shop inspections to identify unsafe conditions or quality risks, and work with operations to implement corrective actions.
  • Facilitate new-hire safety orientations, comprehension testing, refresher trainings, and foreman development sessions.
  • Maintain safety records, audit findings, and key performance metrics (incident/near-miss reports, OSHA logs, toolbox talk attendance, hazard card completion), and prepare reports for leadership.
  • Partner with project management, field supervision, and subcontractors to integrate safety and quality considerations into planning and scheduling.
  • Promote a "see something, say something" culture and support company recognition programs for proactive safety actions.
  • Stay current with OSHA, ANSI, and AISC standards and assist in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support subcontractor safety prequalification and onboarding processes.

Travel to job sites and interact directly with field crews in diverse environments, including variable weather, heights, and industrial settings.

Preferred Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.

· 3–5 years of safety (and ideally quality) experience in construction, steel fabrication/erection, or heavy industrial environments.

· Working knowledge of OSHA 1926, AISC, fall protection, rigging & signaling, welding/hot work, and other relevant standards.

· Preferred certifications: CSP, CHST, OSHA 30, or similar credentials.

· Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills across all levels of an organization.

· Analytical mindset for root-cause investigations, corrective action, and data-driven improvement.

· Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
