Safety Engineer (EHS Manager)

A leading manufacturing organization is seeking a Mid‑Level Safety Engineer to support Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance and continuous improvement initiatives at an operational site. This onsite role partners closely with the EHS Manager and site leadership to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, support audits and investigations, and promote a strong safety culture across the facility.

This position is well‑suited for professionals with early‑to‑mid‑career EHS experience who are looking to deepen hands‑on exposure in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure site compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations
  • Monitor and support reviews of regulatory changes that may impact site operations
  • Assist in maintaining EHS metrics, analyzing trends, and providing input for management reviews
  • Support implementation of EHS policies, procedures, and location‑specific programs
  • Assist in developing and delivering EHS training aligned with regulatory and corporate initiatives
  • Coordinate and support incident and accident investigations, including root‑cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Conduct EHS audits, inspections, and risk assessments
  • Participate in external EHS compliance and loss‑prevention audits
  • Coordinate completion of corrective actions resulting from audits and assessments
  • Assist with required environmental permitting (air, water, land) and related documentation
  • Serve as a backup point of contact for government and regulatory inquiries
  • Actively participate in the site Safety & Environment (S&E) Committee
  • Support Continuous Improvement / Lean / 5S initiatives
  • Perform additional EHS‑related duties as assigned by the EHS Manager

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • 2+ years of experience in safety, environmental, or engineering roles
  • Working knowledge of:
  • OSHA and EPA regulations
  • Job Safety Analysis (JSA) processes
  • Accident and incident investigation techniques
  • ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting
  • Exposure to regulatory audits and permitting processes
  • Experience supporting Lean, Continuous Improvement, or 5S initiatives

Pay: $50.00 - $56.00 per hour
