The Opportunity
We have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced leader or project manager with strong leadership abilities and technical expertise to join our team as the Division Manager, Oil Sands, as part of our Edmonton Geomatics branch in Edmonton, AB. Reporting to the Senior Division Manager, Industrial Facilities, you will lead our multi-disciplinary teams that execute projects on major Oil Sands sites as well as other Industrial Facilities. This role will work closely with internal teams and external partners to drive project success.
The role requires not only a deep understanding of technical aspects but also necessitates business acumen, adept people leadership, financial acuity, client relationship management, and business development.
As Division Manager, you'll play a critical leadership role - fostering a culture of trust, mentorship, and open communication. You'll empower your team through guidance, support, and constructive feedback, while also mentoring junior staff and championing continuous learning and professional growth. By building a collaborative and inclusive environment, you'll cultivate a strong team dynamic where everyone feels valued and motivated.
You'll also work to strengthen client relationships and contribute to the long-term success of both the division and the branch. This role is excellent for someone looking to grow both their leadership and technical capabilities, while playing a key role in delivering on our business strategy and drive operational excellence.

What You'll Do
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities while building and maintaining strategic relationships with key clients, agencies, and partners
  • Oversee team resourcing and workload management to ensure project delivery aligns with branch goals and client expectations
  • Provide leadership, supervision, and mentorship to both field and office staff, fostering an engaged and technically strong team culture
  • Support the Branch Manager in core operational areas, including business development, staffing, resource planning, safety, quality assurance, and financial performance
  • Contribute to the development and execution of strategic plans and annual budgets in collaboration with the Branch Manager
  • Represent McElhanney to the external environment including clients, businesses, and professional associations to enhance McElhanney's positive public profile.
What You'll Bring
  • Over 10 years of progressive technical experience, including supporting project teams through development, regulatory licensing, and execution of Oil Sands projects. Oil Sands experience is highly valued for this position.
  • Proven expertise in process development and documentation, with a focus on creating efficient, scalable workflows that support project delivery and regulatory compliance.

What Can We Offer You?
The salary range for this position is $110,000 to $140,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual's education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
