We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Safety Coordinator to oversee and enhance workplace safety programs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety policies that ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations. This role involves conducting safety training, performing risk assessments, and fostering a culture of safety and occupational health across all departments. The Safety Coordinator will play a vital role in minimizing workplace hazards, managing workers' compensation processes, and promoting overall environmental health and safety (EHS) standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies in accordance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
- Lead safety training sessions and development programs for employees to promote awareness and compliance.
- Respond to workplace incidents by performing root cause analysis and preparing detailed report writing to document findings.
- Manage workers' compensation claims in compliance with workers' compensation law and ensure proper documentation.
- Coordinate emergency response procedures including CPR and first aid protocols; maintain first aid supplies.
- Ensure occupational health standards are maintained by monitoring exposure levels and implementing control measures.
- Collaborate with management to develop strategies for continuous improvement in EHS practices.
- Keep up-to-date with regulatory changes affecting workplace safety and environmental standards; advise management accordingly.
- Promote a culture of safety through ongoing training & development initiatives and employee engagement.
Requirements
- Proven experience in electric utility settings with a strong understanding of OSHA, EPA, workers' compensation law, and occupational health standards.
- Certification in OSHA, HAZWOPER, & Certified Utility Safety Professional (C.U.S.P) is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of report writing, root cause analysis, and incident investigation techniques.
- Familiarity with EHS management systems and OSHA compliance requirements.
- Strong communication skills to effectively deliver training sessions and prepare detailed reports.
- Ability to analyze complex safety data and develop actionable solutions for risk mitigation.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a safe work environment through proactive safety initiatives.
