Site Safety Supervisor WWTP

Our client, a well-established general engineering contractor for over 60 years with locations in California, Nevada and Texas,is seeking a seasoned Safety and Health Supervisor to join their team. This opportunity is ideal for a driven individual with deep experience in water infrastructures, from Wasterwater Pump Sations, sewage lift stations, storm water pumping facilities and treatment plants. This role is critical to the company's continued success with safety on complex and essential projects.

Essential Responsibilities

• Implement site-specific safety programs and conduct regular safety meetings to ensure all activities comply with health and safety regulations.
• Maintain detailed daily logs of site activities, including workforce attendance, work completed, and any on-site incidents for project documentation.
• Serve as the on-site liaison for site inspectors and regulatory officials to facilitate required inspections and ensure all permits are in order.
• Resolve on-site construction challenges and discrepancies in project plans, implementing corrective actions to keep the project on track.
• Oversee the training and development of new construction staff on job duties, safety procedures, and the proper use of equipment.
• Develop, implement, and monitor site-specific safety and health policies aligned with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Lead incident investigations, perform root cause analysis, and prepare detailed report writing to prevent recurrence.
• Coordinate and deliver safety training programs including CPR, First Aid, OSHA compliance, and Workers' Compensation law awareness.
• Ensure all personnel are trained in EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) procedures and maintain accurate training records.
• Oversee compliance with occupational health standards, including hazard assessments and ergonomic evaluations.
• Manage emergency preparedness plans and conduct drills to ensure readiness.
• Collaborate with project managers to integrate safety into daily operations and construction activities.
• Maintain documentation of safety incidents, inspections, and corrective actions for regulatory audits.
• Promote a proactive safety culture through communication, leadership, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

· 15+ years of experience in safety in which 5 year is in the construction of a water treatment plant.

· 7+ years of experience as a Safety Manager in the construction of a major facility such as a treatment plant.

· Experience in construction of 2 water or wastewater treament plants with at least one over $50Million

· BSCE or BSCM preferred

· Valid certification as a Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) by time of hire.
