Quality and Food Safety Tech

Job Summary

The QFS (Quality and Food Safety) Tech is responsible for managing the daily activities of the site’s food safety program. This position reports to the Regional QFS Manager and has a dotted-line to the Mill Manager.

Essential Job Functions

• Provides leadership, support, and guidance to ensure that Food Safety/Quality requirements are met.
• Manages, plans, implements, and continuously improves the Food Safety/Quality divisional programs.
• Enforce Quality goals and KPIs, Food Safety/Quality, maintain Food Safety plan, and supports Operations for continuous improvement.
• Ensure the processes and systems are adequate to implement, achieve, and maintain 3rd party certifications (GMP) and FDA compliance (21CFR 507 and/or 21CFR 117).
• Tracks and reports the costs related to poor quality to drive continuous improvement in the plant.
• Excellent communication, problem solving, and good decision making skills are required.
• Escalates and communicates quality and food safety issues, as required, to Regional Quality Food Safety Manager
• Develops and delivers engaging and effective training, measures effectiveness of training and makes updates for continuous improvement.
• Determine and recognize inconsistencies in the data and report to necessary personnel in a timely manner including escalation.
• Work alone and in teams across all departments.
• Willingness to assume additional and new responsibilities.
• Continually compares test results with standards, as required, to insure that all products are within specification.

Job Qualifications

• Preferred 4 year degree or equivalent 4 year Food Safety experience in a Food manufacturing environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills a must. Ability to communicate and interact with all levels of the organization, including senior management, customers, and regulatory officials as needed.
