Position Summary:
The EHS Manager develops and implements effective EHS programs and policies, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations. This role leads daily site-level EHS operations, drives a proactive safety culture, and works cross-functionally with other depts. assisting to mitigate risk, promoting continuous improvement to build a collaborative environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
The EHS Manager develops and implements effective EHS programs and policies, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations. This role leads daily site-level EHS operations, drives a proactive safety culture, and works cross-functionally with other depts. assisting to mitigate risk, promoting continuous improvement to build a collaborative environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement & maintain comprehensive EHS roadmap, policies and procedures in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements ensuring a culture of proactive safety behaviors for the site.
- Ensures compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), relevant state environmental agencies and other regulatory organizations.
- Develops and implements proactive behavioral based safety roadmap and programs that drive a culture of proactive safety
- Identify EHS training needs leading to the development & coordination of site safety training programs.
- Manages an effective and timely safety incident process that drives root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Managing the Internal and external EHS Audit Programs, conducting Health & Safety inspections, audits, and surveys/ assessments with effective risk management and closed loop corrective actions.
- Engage with site employees to monitor site conditions to ensure compliance for PPE, machine guarding, fire safety and all permit requirements and any daily improvements.
- Manages the site program for chemical use from approval to disposal. Maintains chemical record and storage inventory with all safety data sheets and reporting documents.
- Oversee contractor safety program, including prequalification, orientation, and monitoring.
- Develop comprehensive equipment safety (lockout/tagout, machine guarding) program
- Establish, monitor, and report on EHS metrics ensuring timely, thorough and accurate records and reporting
- Prepare management dashboards, trend analysis, and build out continuous improvement plans.
- Review process changes / new equipment from an EHS standpoint (Management of Change)
- Develop and lead site Emergency Response Plan and team for related incidents.
- Develop and implement required policies and procedures for site and product certification with external agencies (ISO) for EHS elements.
- Oversee medical management program for the site, including medical case management and return to work.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA (29 CFR 1910), EPA, state regulations, and industry best practices
- Excellent analytical problem-solving skills and knowledge of veracious quality/EHS tools for analysis (FMEA, RCA)
- Strong sense of responsibility, highly motivated, forward thinking, and servant leadership.
- Communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to collaborate across different departments and sites.
- Knowledge of ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety management system practices and developing, ISO 14001:2015 Environmental management System and ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management.
- Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 8 years of experience progressively in an EHS-related field, preferably with 5 years of manager level responsibility as a individual contributor
- Manufacturing experience, highly automated high volume manufacturing is a plus.
- Experienced with developing and leading behavioral based safety programs that thoroughly engage the workforce and drives a positive proactive safety culture.
