Job Overview:  

The Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Director will lead a team to manage and optimize all activities associated with Cooper Machinery Services' health and safety program. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and fostering a culture of safety and environmental stewardship throughout the organization. 

  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Oversee all occupational safety and health program elements and activities to achieve safety goals and objectives, ensuring compliance with regulatory agency and corporate requirements. 
  • Communicate HSE performance and emerging trends to the executive leadership team and lead the development and execution of mitigation strategies to reduce and prevent incidents. 
  • Lead efforts in implementing Hazard Reduction and Injury Prevention Projects across the enterprise. 
  • Ensure 100% compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. 
  • Drive improvements in the organization's HSE culture, awareness, and accountability, serving as a role model for HSE leadership. 
  • Ensure all Cooper sites understand and comply with terms and conditions of all chemical, regulatory, and environmental permits. 
  • Conduct incident/accident investigations and develop corrective and preventative action plans. 
  • Measure and maintain HSE metrics (Incidence & Injury rate, First Aid Cases, Near Misses, Concern Reporting, Training Completion, Stop Work Cases). 
  • Act as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies concerning all HSE issues. 
  • Stay informed about regulatory changes and trends and forecast organizational impacts. 
  • Engage and coach operations leaders to successfully manage their HSE leadership responsibilities. 
  • Oversee Risk & Case Management organization in support of Operations. 
  • Perform additional duties as assigned. 

 

Required Skills and Experience:  

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or Environmental Science from an accredited university or college; Advanced degree preferred. 
  • Minimum 10 years of HSE experience with at least 2 years in the oil and gas industry. 
  • CSP certification preferred. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. 
  • Ability to develop and implement HSE programs and achieve measurable goals. 
  • Strong project management, organizational, and analytical skills. 
  • Proficient auditing skills. 
  • Ability to lead, train, and motivate teams. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to drive change and create a positive safety culture. 
  • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple ongoing tasks on tight time schedules.
