We provide end-to-end medical transportation as well as fire services, integrated healthcare solutions and disaster response. Our Operations Safety Officer works with company operations and base level managers to promote a positive safety culture and enhance workplace safety. This position conducts new-hire and recurrent training and functions within a Safety Management System Internal Evaluation Program as an auditor. This position also conducts event investigations and provides recommendations to company leadership for improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Support the company's and corporation's Safety Management System (SMS) in all aspects
  • Conducts or supports investigation of accidents, incidents, and injuries
  • Evaluates processes and activities utilizing quality management processes to promote quality improvement
  • Identifies hazards and performs/assists with safety risk and change management assessments
  • Conduct root cause analysis investigations and provides necessary recommendations on reports or allegations received from the various company reporting systems as assigned
  • Coordinates and works closely with regional, clinical, operations, and maintenance directors on a routine basis
  • Provide guidance to Base Safety Representatives (BSR) on safety related issues within their assigned portfolio
  • Educate company personnel, vendors, and partners by communicating all aspects of corporate safety philosophy and initiatives
  • Measures company policies and regulatory compliance by conducting base audits and evaluations
  • Assign and monitor Corrective Action & Preventive Action (CAPA) plans for unsatisfactory findings during audits
  • Continually monitor operational activities to assist in identifying hazards, risks, and negative exposure to the operation
  • Assist in the facilitation of systems risk management (SRM) process with applicable disciplines
  • Assist with an analysis of operational activities and safety trends of the assigned portfolio
  • Participate in base, regional, and corporate level safety meetings and conference calls as required
  • Support operational leaders as a safety advisor
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 5 years' experience as an EMS pilot; EMS medical flight crewmember (Flight Paramedic or Flight Nurse); or A&P mechanic or equivalent
  • Organizational auditing experience (preferred)
  • Prior experience as an organizational safety representative or equivalent (preferred)
  • Associates degree; Bachelor's degree (preferred)
  • Math and writing skills, ability to analyze data and draw conclusions, public speaking
  • FAA Certification as a Commercial pilot or A&P Mechanic; Paramedic or RN
