Electrical Safety Consultant
Position Overview
The Client is seeking an experienced Electrical Safety Consultant with a strong electrical background to support construction activities at the Boardman, OR site. This is a unique, fixed-term (12-month) assignment designed to drive measurable, permanent improvements in electrical safety performance across multiple General Contractors (GCs).
Unlike a traditional site safety role, this position will operate in a targeted, “surgical” capacity, working deeply with one GC at a time to identify root causes of electrical safety gaps, implement corrective solutions, and ensure those solutions are embedded and sustained before moving to the next contractor.
The Electrical Safety Consultant will serve as an Owner’s Representative, trusted advisor, and influential leader, partnering directly with construction leadership and GC management to elevate electrical safety governance and execution across the site.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Safety Leadership & Intervention
- Serve as the site-level Owner’s Representative for electrical safety governance and energization controls.
- Lead targeted electrical safety interventions with assigned GCs, beginning with those exhibiting the highest risk or performance gaps.
- Identify deficiencies related to:
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- Energization procedures
- Electrical permits and approvals
- Temporary power and grounding
- Electrical work planning and execution
- Develop and implement practical, field-ready corrective actions, ensuring solutions are permanent and scalable.
- Verify corrective actions through follow-up observations, audits, and performance metrics.
GC Engagement & Influence
- Work hands-on with GC leadership, supervision, and field crews to drive behavioral and system-level change.
- Build credibility through strong electrical knowledge, professional presence, and consistent field engagement.
- Coach, mentor, and influence without direct authority—driving accountability through relationships and data.
- Anticipated cadence: approximately one GC per quarter, depending on complexity and performance improvement timelines.
Safety Program Alignment
- Complete onboarding and training on the Client’s Safety Program, standards, and site-specific expectations.
- Ensure GC Safety Management Systems are implemented and adhered to.
- Measure and report GC performance through:
- Field observations and audits
- Incident trends and leading indicators
- Responsiveness to corrective actions
- Compliance with energization and permit requirements
Reporting & Communication
- Conduct regular site walks, safety observations, and assessments.
- Prepare clear, professional reports summarizing findings, trends, and corrective actions.
- Participate in coordination meetings with site leadership and GC management.
- Present findings and progress updates to leadership as required.
