Environmental Health and Safety Manager

Sofidel America is seeking a Corporate Special Project Manager – Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) to provide leadership and expert technical assistance on EHS matters. This role partners closely with functional leadership on compliance, project management, reporting, and related initiatives, while supporting Sofidel’s mission of maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental performance.
The EHS Corporate Special Project Manager reports to the Director of EHS and will design, develop, and implement programs in alignment with local, state, and federal requirements as well as ISO 45001:2018 standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Director of EHS on strategies to minimize risk and enhance workplace safety.
- Develop, implement, and monitor key performance metrics to evaluate program effectiveness.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to standardize EHS programs across Sofidel America.
- Coordinate EHS audits and assessments and serve as ISO program coordinator and document controller.
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards through training, documentation, and audits.
- Identify gaps in EHS procedures, track trends, and implement improvements.
- Promote EHS culture through communication, training, and employee engagement.
- Generate and present data for monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
- Support site-level EHS personnel through coaching, guidance, and technical expertise.
- Lead by example to drive a proactive culture of prevention, risk reduction, and compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety or a related field (or equivalent education/experience).
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in health, safety, or environmental roles within an industrial setting.
- Strong knowledge of ISO standards and compliance management systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to travel up to 20%.
- Strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work in an active manufacturing environment with exposure to fluctuating temperatures, paper dust, and noise levels.
- Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety shoes, eye and ear protection, and reflective vests.
