Job Description: Wausau Coated Products is seeking a results-driven EHS Manager to drive the company’s environmental, health, and safety initiatives. In this role, you will strategically manage regulatory compliance, oversee workplace safety programs, and ensure company-wide adherence to OSHA, DNR, EPA, and related environmental regulations. The EHS Manager will partner with leadership to implement safety strategies, conduct inspections and risk assessments, and manage incident prevention and reporting. The ideal candidate will build strong relationships across departments, maintain accurate compliance documentation, and ensure safe and sustainable operational practices.

This role will be based in the corporate HQ, reporting directly to the HR Manager, and offers a competitive compensation and benefit package.

Responsibilities: The candidate will

  • Maintain corporate compliance with OSHA, DNR, EPA, and other environmental and safety regulations, including permits, hazardous materials, waste disposal, regulatory reporting, and documentation systems
  • Coordinate EHS services across the corporate office, manufacturing facilities, and other company locations
  • Develop, implement, and manage safety and emergency response training programs, including scheduling training sessions, coordinating evacuation and severe weather drills, and overseeing emergency medical response
  • Conduct inspections, job safety analyses, and risk assessments to prevent incidents and ensure employee well-being
  • Oversee workers’ compensation programs, maintain safety documentation and Safety Manuals, and coordinate claims management and return-to-work programs with HR and insurance carriers
  • Lead investigations of workplace accidents, hazards, and near misses, implementing corrective actions and collaborating with insurance and occupational health partners
  • Facilitate the Company Safety Committee by creating action items, setting goals, monitoring progress, and maintaining meeting minutes
  • Maintain accurate records of all EHS activities, incidents, inspections, and audits to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations

Requirements

Requirements: The candidate must

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in EHS, environmental science, or a related field
  • Have 3+ years of demonstrated, quantifiable experience managing EHS programs, preferably in manufacturing or industrial operations
  • Possess strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the company
  • Demonstrate knowledge of OSHA, DNR, EPA, and other regulatory frameworks, including hazardous materials and chemical management
  • Be detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of managing multiple safety programs and projects independently
  • Exhibit sound judgment, decision-making skills, and the ability to foster a positive safety culture
  • Be available to travel as required to oversee multiple company locations and conduct inspections
  • Have proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHS systems, including Safety Data Sheets, incident reporting, and regulatory tracking tools
