PAY: $55,000 to $80,000

Job Summary Statement

The Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for coordinating Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) initiatives and regulatory compliance. The EHS Coordinator will possess a combination of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a passion for safety. He/she will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to implement improvements, streamline operations, and drive safety innovation in our manufacturing processes.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, and maintains environmental health and safety programs and policies in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Conducts regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Provides safety training to employees, including new hire orientation, annual refresher courses, and specialized training as needed.
  • Works with plant leaders to develop job safety and job hazard analyses.
  • Investigates and respond to environmental incidents, including spills, releases, and other hazardous events.
  • Maintains accurate records of environmental and safety incidents, training, and audits.
  • Partners with departments across the organization to promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship; develops and implement proactive safety measures, training, and policies to prevent accidents, injuries, and occupational illnesses in the workplace
  • Ensures compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), and other regulatory organizations and entities.
  • Maintains a chemical inventory and Safety Data Sheets.
  • Stays current with new regulations, best practices, and emerging trends in EHS.
  • Maintains and trends injury data/statistics and develops strategies to reduce employee accidents and injuries.
  • Collaborates with Manufacturing, Engineering and Facilities to conduct risk assessments and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Works with team to develop and maintain comprehensive emergency response plans for EHS related incidents, including accidents and environmental emergencies.
  • Collaborates with various internal departments, senior management, and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication, training, and education on HSE matters.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in environmental health and safety, Environmental Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in environmental health and safety, with experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (read, write, speak)
  • Strong knowledge of environmental health and safety regulations and standards, including OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for promoting environmental health and safety in the workplace.
