Our client, a significant player in the mining industry, is seeking a seasoned Mine Safety and Compliance Manager to oversee safety protocols and regulatory adherence at their operational site near Provo, Utah. This role requires a blend of hands-on site presence and strategic oversight, involving regular travel to the mine while also allowing for some remote work flexibility. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive safety programs to ensure the well-being of all personnel and the protection of the environment. This includes conducting regular site inspections, hazard assessments, and incident investigations to identify potential risks and implement corrective actions. You will ensure that all operations comply with MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) regulations, as well as other relevant local, state, and federal laws. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of mining operations and safety best practices, and a commitment to fostering a robust safety culture throughout the organization. You will lead safety training initiatives, develop emergency response plans, and maintain all required safety documentation and reporting. This position is crucial for maintaining operational integrity and upholding our client's commitment to a safe and healthy working environment. A hybrid work arrangement will allow for effective management across both operational and administrative responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and manage mine-wide safety and health programs. Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies. Investigate all accidents, injuries, and near misses, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions. Develop and deliver comprehensive safety training programs for all employees and contractors. Ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and other relevant regulatory requirements. Maintain safety documentation, records, and reporting as required by law and company standards. Develop and coordinate emergency response plans and conduct drills. Promote a proactive safety culture through continuous communication, engagement, and leadership. Liaise with regulatory agencies during inspections and inquiries. Stay current with advancements in mine safety technology and best practices. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Mining Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 8 years of experience in mine safety management. Extensive knowledge of MSHA regulations and mining operations. Proven ability to develop and implement effective safety programs. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Experience in conducting accident investigations and hazard assessments. Ability to work effectively in both field and office settings. Certification such as Certified Mine Safety Professional (CMSP) is a plus. Proficiency in safety management systems and reporting software.
