WhatJobs DirectOur client, a leading industrial operator in Colorado Springs, Colorado, US , is seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to oversee and implement comprehensive EHS programs across their facilities. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, promoting a safe working environment, and minimizing the environmental impact of operations. The successful candidate will lead a team of EHS professionals, conduct risk assessments, develop and deliver training, and manage incident response protocols. This position requires a strong understanding of EHS best practices, regulatory frameworks, and risk management strategies, with a blend of on-site presence and remote flexibility.
Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain robust EHS policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA). Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols and environmental standards. Lead risk assessment initiatives, including job hazard analyses (JHAs) and process hazard analyses (PHAs), and develop mitigation strategies. Manage and oversee the investigation of workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses, recommending and implementing corrective actions. Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees at all levels, ensuring competency and awareness. Oversee the company's environmental management system, including waste management, emissions monitoring, and spill prevention plans. Serve as the primary contact for regulatory agencies and facilitate EHS-related inspections and inquiries. Develop and manage emergency response plans and procedures, conducting drills and ensuring readiness. Promote a strong safety culture throughout the organization through communication, engagement, and leadership. Stay current with evolving EHS regulations, industry best practices, and emerging trends. Manage EHS budgets and resources effectively. Prepare and present EHS performance reports to senior management. Champion sustainability initiatives and continuously seek opportunities for environmental improvement. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus. Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in EHS management, with significant experience in industrial or manufacturing settings, is required. Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) are highly desirable. Strong knowledge of relevant EHS regulations and standards is essential. Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills are necessary. Experience with managing hybrid work environments and ensuring effective EHS oversight in such settings is beneficial.
