• *All about the role**

Due to the growth of our customer services function there is a fantastic new opportunity to collaborate with the local Facilities team; who are dedicated to the health and safety (h&s) of our colleagues based in our brand-new offices in Sunderland. As part of your role, you will promote the highest levels of safety and health in the workplace and act as a role model, demonstrating the safest ways of working.

As part of this varied role, we're also counting on you to:

• Coordinate inspections across the workplace, identify hazards and implement remedial actions
• Handle compliance with relevant regulations and internal company policies
• Partner with colleagues across the site to provide support on all safety matters
• Lead training sessions, toolbox talks and colleague inductions to make sure h&s knowledge remains relevant and appropriate
• Review the production of risk assessments and method statements and answer any related queries
• Keep accurate records and documentation of procedures and activities, including accidents, incidents and near misses

Here's what we're looking for from our Health and Safety expert

• Up to date and accurate knowledge of national health and safety requirements
• Achieved, or working towards a recognised Level 3 health and safety qualification (such as NEBOSH National General Certificate) or equivalent
• Ability to communicate with colleagues at all levels
• Comfortable with challenging unacceptable behaviours and practises in a constructive and effective way
• Able to build long lasting relationships with internal and external partners (such as enforcement bodies or trade unions)
