This role owns the development, execution, and continuous improvement of the company's environmental, health, safety, and sanitation systems.

Description
- Build, update, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and training programs that ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Lead safety initiatives including emergency preparedness, LOTO, new-hire safety orientation, and industrial equipment training.
- Conduct regular walkthroughs and facility assessments to identify risks, recommend corrective actions, and ensure timely follow-up.
- Manage environmental programs such as hazardous waste handling, storm/wastewater compliance, and air quality reporting.
- Oversee incident and injury investigations from initial documentation through closure and preventative action.
- Track EHS performance metrics and support continuous improvement efforts.
- Act as the primary contact for regulatory auditors and third-party inspectors.
- Direct all sanitation activities across production, packaging, warehouse, and support areas.
- Develop and enforce sanitation procedures, cleaning schedules, and verification protocols.
- Ensure equipment and facility cleaning meets applicable regulatory and internal quality expectations.
- Train staff on sanitation techniques, chemical usage, cross-contamination prevention, and hygiene standards.
- Verify allergen controls, pre-op checks, line clearances, and release activities before production startup.
- Partner with Quality, Production, and Maintenance to troubleshoot sanitation issues and support audits.
- Lead investigations into sanitation deviations and drive corrective and preventive actions.
Profile
Must-Have Qualifications
- 5+ years of EHS experience within a manufacturing environment.
- 3+ years overseeing sanitation programs in a regulated setting such as food, beverage, or dietary supplements.
- Strong understanding of GMP/cGMP expectations and sanitation best practices.
- Experience developing training programs and leading compliance-driven initiatives.
- Familiarity with environmental programs (hazardous waste, air quality, storm/wastewater).
- Proficiency with documentation systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- OSHA 30 (General Industry) certification.
- Experience with FDA-regulated operations or supporting third-party audits.
- Background in cleaning validation, allergen management, or environmental monitoring.
- Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
