Position Summary

Resource Recycling Inc. is seeking an experienced and highly respected Safety Coordinator to lead, improve, and enforce our safety culture across all operations. This role is hands-on, people-facing, and enforcement-driven. The Safety Coordinator will work directly with employees, supervisors, and leadership to ensure safe operations, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of safety practices.

This position requires someone who is confident enough to enforce standards, experienced enough to be respected by the workforce, and professional enough to represent the company with OSHA and regulatory agencies.

Key Responsibilities

Safety Leadership & Enforcement

  • Serve as the primary safety authority on-site, with the ability to enforce safety rules and address violations directly and consistently
  • Conduct routine safety inspections, job hazard analyses, and audits of equipment, yard operations, production areas, and truck traffic
  • Identify unsafe behaviors, conditions, and processes, and take corrective action promptly
  • Hold employees and leadership accountable to safety standards without compromising respect or professionalism

Training & Communication

  • Develop and conduct safety training, onboarding, refresher courses, and toolbox talks
  • Confidently speak to groups of employees with varying experience levels
  • Clearly explain safety expectations, hazards, and corrective actions in a way employees understand and respect
  • Serve as a visible, approachable safety resource while maintaining authority

Regulatory & Compliance

  • Act as the company liaison with OSHA and other government or regulatory agencies
  • Assist with OSHA inspections, audits, incident investigations, and follow-up actions
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation, records, logs, and reports
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, state, and local safety regulations applicable to manufacturing, yard operations, trucking, and heavy equipment
  • Attend trainings to continuously learn how and what to implement for our workplace

Policy Development & Continuous Improvement

  • Assist in developing, updating, and maintaining written safety policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Help implement safety programs and ensure they are followed in daily operations
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve unsafe operations, workflows, and equipment usage
  • Promote a growth mindset focused on preventing incidents before they happen

Technology & Reporting

  • Utilize technology for training records, inspections, reporting, and communication
  • Support digital safety systems, tracking tools, and documentation platforms
  • Help modernize safety processes to improve efficiency and accountability

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience working around heavy equipment, mobile equipment, or industrial operations
  • OSHA 30 certification (or ability to obtain promptly)
  • Strong safety-first mindset with the confidence to enforce safety rules
  • Proven ability to address safety violations directly with employees
  • Ability to train, coach, and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Comfortable interacting with OSHA and regulatory agencies on behalf of the company
  • Experience developing, implementing, and enforcing written safety policies and procedures
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and follow-through skills
  • Working knowledge of safety technology and digital tools

Preferred / Ideal Qualifications

  • Factory, manufacturing, yard, or industrial facility experience
  • Age 45+, or equivalent life and work experience that commands respect on the jobsite
  • Strong interpersonal skills—able to enforce standards without being aggressive, condescending, or confrontational
  • Calm, firm, and consistent communication style
  • Prior experience building or improving a safety culture in a hands-on operation

Compensation & Schedule

Pay Range: $25.00 – $35.00 per hour, based on experience, certifications, and demonstrated ability to lead and enforce safety standards

Schedule: Part-time, averaging approximately 25 hours per week

Flexibility: Schedule may vary based on operational needs, training requirements, inspections, audits, or regulatory activity
