As a DOT Compliance Specialist you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing our company's compliance with all DOT and safety requirements. You will work closely with various departments, including Operations, Safety and Human Resources, to ensure that all aspects of our business align with DOT safety guidelines. Your expertise will be vital in preventing potential violations and ensuring that our drivers and employees are well-trained and aware of all safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, interpret, and communicate updates on DOT regulations to relevant stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with DOT rules and regulations.
  • Collaborate with different departments to implement necessary changes to meet compliance standards.
  • Oversee driver qualification files, drug and alcohol testing programs, and maintenance records.
  • Develop and conduct training programs to educate employees and drivers about DOT regulations and safety protocols.
  • Investigate and report any accidents or incidents involving company vehicles to the appropriate authorities.
  • Keep abreast of industry best practices and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Conduct training or assign training and track completion.
  • Document training scripts or create videos.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in DOT compliance, safety management, or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of DOT regulations, including FMCSA, CSA, and HOS rules.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Certifications in DOT compliance and safety management are a plus.
  • Some local travel required
