**Job Summary**
We are seeking a highly experienced **Safety and Compliance Manager** to oversee and manage all safety and regulatory compliance functions for our Ontario-based flatbed trucking company. Operating cross-border into the USA, the Safety and Compliance Manager will ensure adherence to all Canadian and U.S. transportation regulations while fostering a culture of safety and operational excellence.
- *Regulatory Compliance**
- Ensure full compliance with Canadian and U.S. transportation regulations, including but not limited to the **Highway Traffic Act (HTA)**, **Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)**, **U.S. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR)**, and **Electronic Logging Devices (ELD)** requirements.
- Maintain and audit driver logs, Hours of Service (HOS) records, and ensure all documentation meets regulatory standards.
- Oversee International Registration Plan (IRP) and International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) filings.
- Ensure all certifications, including **CTPAT, PIP, CSA, Bond,** and **Smartway**, are up-to-date and compliant.
- Conduct periodic audits of company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Ministry of Transportation (MTO) and U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- *Safety Management**
- Develop, implement, and monitor safety programs, including driver training, vehicle inspection protocols, and workplace safety procedures.
- Conduct safety meetings and ensure drivers are aware of company policies, legal requirements, and best practices.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and violations to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Oversee compliance with drug and alcohol testing programs for cross-border drivers.
- Enforce and monitor the **Drug Test Policy**, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- *Driver Management**
- Manage driver qualification files, ensuring that all certifications, licenses, and medical records are up to date.
- Provide coaching and retraining for drivers regarding compliance issues, safety concerns, or performance improvements.
- Act as a liaison between drivers, operations, and regulatory agencies to resolve compliance-related concerns.
- *Fleet Management**
- Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure vehicles meet inspection standards for cross-border operations.
- Ensure the fleet is equipped with appropriate permits, placards, and other regulatory requirements.
- *Reporting and Documentation**
- Prepare and submit mandatory compliance and safety reports to regulatory authorities as required.
- Maintain records of all training, certifications, inspections, and incident reports.
- Regularly update management on safety performance metrics and regulatory changes impacting operations.
- *Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety and compliance management within the trucking industry.
- In-depth knowledge of **MTO/DOT regulations**, **CVOR**, **FMCSA**, and safety standards. Familiarity with **CTPAT**, **CSA**, and other industry certifications is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in ELD systems and fleet management software.
- Proven ability to manage a team and develop individuals within the department.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Certification in safety management (e.g., NSC Compliance, CDS, or equivalent) is an asset.

- *Hours of Work**
- Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
- Weekly hours may vary depending on operational/business needs
- Occasional weekend availability

Pay: $55,660.01-$120,000.00 per year
