Assistant Director for Safety, Security, Health, and Wellness

This position is responsible for the development, implementation, and administration of a comprehensive, department-wide occupational and residential safety, security, and health program.

• Develops and manages policies, procedures, and training to address safety, security, and health issues.
• Conducts routine inspections of facilities and evaluates atmospheric conditions using technical equipment and industry standard procedures.
• Interprets complex standards and creates defensible strategies, and interprets new regulations and their applicability to campus operations.

The Assistant Director will lead investigations for accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning safety, security, and health. They will also develop security protocols to establish safe living environments, through the use of key controls, card access, CCTV, alarms, and landscape management to control site lines.

The University of Tennessee-Knoxville is seeking a qualified candidate to fill this role. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Science, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, or Public Health, and at least seven years of related managerial experience in industrial hygiene, safety, and health program management.
