Reporting to the Operations Manager, the** **Safety Administrator provides administrative support to the Terminal Safety Teams in Toronto and Ottawa regions in all aspects of Westcan’s Safety Management System (SMS).

  • *Responsibilities**:
  • Prepare all incident reports, including required data entry to ensure compliance with all company and regulatory reporting obligations
  • Being a resource to safety teams during incidents to ensure our incident response process is adhered by liaising between in-field Safety Advisors and Westcan Management to ensure both parties have the adequate resources and information to ensure our successful work through of the incident including assisting with customer and regulatory body communication and reporting
  • Daily review and system update as required of all speed gauge and stability reports
  • Liaise with HR in regard to workplace injury claims (WCB)
  • Complete all safety statistics reporting for the Terminal
  • Ensuring training and qualification records are accurate and up to date (both system and employee files)
  • Conducting random and post-incident D&A testing
  • Enter competency assessments and job observations in the TMW system
  • Admin duties
  • Working with the Central Learning Centre to ensure CAPS entered are followed through with the terminals within the region
  • Completing jobs hazard assessments as required
  • Facilitating all necessary driver training including online and in classroom as required
  • Scheduling Carrier’s Edge and following up
  • Other duties as required
  • *Qualifications**:
  • One year working in an administrative capacity an asset; must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills including use of computer software such as Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Experience in the transportation industry preferred
  • Must be well organized and able to move between tasks without issue
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, requiring initiative and ambition
