AES is seeking an experienced Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager to lead our safety, health, and environmental compliance programs across all company locations. This role ensures compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local regulations while driving a culture of safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who collaborates with operations, production, and management teams to reduce risk, prevent incidents, and maintain a safe and compliant workplace.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance

  • Develop, implement, and maintain AES's health, safety, and environmental programs in accordance with OSHA, EPA, and state regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and job hazard analyses across facilities and equipment.
  • Lead investigations of workplace incidents, near misses, and safety violations; identify root causes and oversee corrective actions.
  • Maintain safety documentation, reports, and regulatory records.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental requirements, including waste management, air quality, stormwater, and hazardous materials handling.

Training & Employee Engagement

  • Design and deliver safety training programs (e.g., new-hire orientation, PPE, lockout/tagout, confined space, machine guarding).
  • Maintain training records and ensure compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
  • Foster a proactive safety culture through communication, recognition, and engagement initiatives.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Serve as the primary contact for all safety and environmental matters.
  • Partner with supervisors and operations leaders to reinforce safe work practices.
  • Lead the AES Safety Committee; organize regular meetings to review metrics, hazards, and improvement plans.
  • Work with maintenance and engineering teams to improve equipment design and workplace safety.

Reporting & Metrics

  • Track, analyze, and report safety data and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Prepare and present EHS performance reports to management.
  • Manage regulatory reporting, including OSHA logs, incident records, and environmental filings.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and training skills.
  • Proven ability to influence and drive positive safety behaviors.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams) and incident management systems.

Preferred

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or similar credential.
  • Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Background in metal fabrication or similar manufacturing settings.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk, stand, and climb stairs throughout the facility.
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must wear required PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed shoes).
  • Work may occur in production and outdoor environments with varying noise, temperature, and air conditions.
