As a Senior Safety Coordinator, you will be responsible for administering and coordinating comprehensive safety services and programs. You will play a key role in implementing, communicating, and facilitating training for employees, contractors, and the public, ensuring that everyone adheres to policies, procedures, and safe work practices. Your focus will be on fostering a safe work environment and ensuring compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
Your duties will include developing, administering, and facilitating safety compliance programs, staying up-to-date with regulatory changes, and interpreting and applying safety codes and regulations relevant to our operations. You will conduct thorough inspections of facilities and job sites, collaborating with leadership to implement necessary corrective actions.
Additionally, you will facilitate compliance functions such as noise dosimetry, atmospheric monitoring, and respiratory testing. You'll be instrumental in responding to incidents, accidents, and near misses, providing recommendations for corrective actions and preventive measures.
Data interpretation and reporting will be part of your role, as you prepare reports for both internal and external stakeholders and ensure compliance with reporting requirements. You will also serve as a technical adviser for internal safety committees and represent the company in local and state safety organizations.
Your dedication to safety will be demonstrated through designing and delivering training sessions for both internal and external customers, including public education aimed at compliance with USDOT regulations. You will exercise your technical skills and judgement to promptly address requests and ensure resolution, with the authority to halt work if unsafe practices or conditions are identified.
Applicants should have an associate degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or at least 9 years of experience without a degree. You must be able to qualify for OSHA 30-hour Outreach Training for Construction within 90 days of hire.
Successful candidates will demonstrate knowledge of OSHA regulations and standard electric utility safety program components. Required skills include strong analytical abilities, interpersonal communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and customer relations. Proficiency in PCs, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and database software is essential.
This role requires adaptability to general office, industrial plant, and field environments, involving some travel and outdoor visitations that may require walking on uneven surfaces and climbing. The physical requirements could include lifting and carrying safety materials, small tools, and presentation equipment. Be prepared for on-call duty approximately one week per month.
Depending on your qualifications, this position may be filled at a lower level such as Safety Specialist or Safety Technician.
