Safety Coordinator - 3rd Shift Distribution & Manufacturing Safety - John Deere Contract Role

This is an essential, long-term 1+ year contract opportunity paying up to $33/hr, including 1 Week PTO. This role is crucial for maintaining the health and safety management system across distribution and manufacturing operations, with a mandatory focus on 3rd shift operations.

Position Details & Compensation

• Pay Rate: Up to $33/hr (W2, based on experience/credentials).
• Location: Milan, IL (Fully Onsite).
• Duration: 1+ years (Stable, long-term contract).
• Shift: 3rd Shift (11:00 PM – 7:30 AM). Overtime (OT) is available.
• Safety Requirement: Metatarsal safety shoes are required on the first day (not reimbursable).

• Exclusion: Visa sponsorship is not available now or in the near future. No recent or upcoming graduates.

Core Responsibilities

You will provide interpretation, analysis, and support for programs and processes crucial to the site's health and safety management system.

• Shop Floor Presence (50%): Spend approximately 50% of the shift on the warehouse floor conducting safety observations, incident investigations, and interviewing employees.
• Safety System Management: Manage and review safety recordkeeping per OSHA guidelines and internal procedures. Manage corrective action and preventative action (CAPA) processes.
• Investigation & Analysis: Conduct incident investigations and ergonomic reviews, and assist in determining effective corrective action. Compile and analyze necessary data to ensure regulatory and internal compliance.
• Compliance & Risk: Coordinate safety audits and risk assessments to identify noncompliance. Review new processes, equipment, and assets for potential hazards and compliance before introduction.
• Training & Development: Develop, direct, and may conduct safety presentations and training. Develop recommendations for health and safety processes/programs to meet John Deere standards and applicable laws.

Required Qualifications

• Experience & Environment: Knowledge and experience in a warehousing or manufacturing environment with a strong safety background.
• Training Expertise: Knowledge and experience in developing and providing safety training.
• Education/Expertise: Safety Degree and/or very strong manufacturing safety experience.
• Software: Strong skills in MS Office suite.

What Makes You Stand Out (Preferred)

• Accreditation: CSP (Certified Safety Professional) accreditation is preferred.
• OSHA Training: OSHA ten-hour card or thirty-hour experience.
• Specialized Experience: Extensive experience with occupational safety.
• Certifications: Any certifications for OSHA training.
