- *About the Role**
The HSE Supervisor is a position in our organization responsible for assisting with and ensuring company management and workers comply with OH&S/OSHA Regulations, our HS&E Management System, and municipal/client safety guidelines. The HSE Supervisor reports directly to the Regional Safety Manager and will have an in-depth knowledge of British Columbia Occupational, Health and Safety Act, Regulation and Codes.
- *This position will be based on the Teck project in Elkford, BC.**
- *As an HSE Supervisor as Graham, you will**:
- Assist and provide advice to project management on the safety-related actions needed to maintain an acceptable level of safety on the job site. This advice is based on OH&S/OSHA and local Acts and Regulations, W.C.B. and Graham Health, Safety and Environment Management System (HSE MS) rules, policies and procedures
- Observe, inspecting and assisting site operations to ensure work is being done safely and the site is in Regulatory compliance. This will encompass 70-80% of this role’s in the field
- Seek cooperation from workers on site by the use of good interpersonal communication skills
- Recognize hazardous situations and act on them appropriately
- Provide safety-specific training to individuals and groups
- Assist in equipment inspections, preparation of reports, and follow up on all noted deficiencies
- Work efficiently and effectively with employees and management, often in stressful situations.
- Assist project Management/Supervision in the implementation and communication of the PSSP
- Ensure all controlled products supplied to projects are accompanied by a corresponding current safety data sheet (SDS/MSDS), and other documentation as required by local government regulations
- Assist, conduct and coach workers in BBS and FLRAs, as required
- Ensure all required HSE reports and meeting minutes and filed, with copies sent to the appropriate personnel for review and corrective action.
- Stay up-to-date of the latest changes to the applicable legislation
- This is a Vancouver, BC based job but may require travel for short durations.
- Promote Graham’s HSE MS and assist with encouraging participation in safety initiatives.
- Assist with incident investigations and analysis and recommendations;
- Facilitate site specific orientations and maintain and analyses project HSE statistics for trends and recommend corrective controls to the project team.
- Assist with administering the Claims Management process.
- Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution and communications skills.
- Solid understanding of local OHS Act, Regulations and Codes.
- *Qualifications/Experience**:
- Minimum 6-8 years HS&E industry experience
- Previous project experience in the Mining/Energy sector is an asset
- Strong knowledge of OH&S or OSHA Regulations as applicable for location (British Columbia) of responsibility
- High School graduation or equivalent.
- Construction Safety Officer (CSO) or National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certification.
- CRSP, CSP would be considered an asset.
- Applicable OHS Certificate, Degree or Diploma would be considered an asset.
- Advanced First Aid or higher (OFA 2 or higher)
- Construction Trade Certification is desirable but not required.
