Safety Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Safety Specialist dedicated to promoting a culture of safety and compliance within a chemical manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will have a robust background in safety practices, with a particular focus on chemical manufacturing. A Bachelor's Degree in Safety or Engineering is required, along with at least two years of safety compliance experience. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and advocate for a zero-incident safety culture through proactive safety practices and workforce engagement.
  • Manage Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and oversee the Hazard Communication program.
  • Conduct assessments for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), ergonomics, and health risks, including exposure monitoring.
  • Support incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions.
  • Provide technical expertise in pre-job planning and accident prevention, ensuring regulatory compliance and site safety management.
  • Develop and deliver safety and health training modules for employees.
  • Execute and monitor compliance and improvement strategies, with a focus on effectiveness and follow-up.
  • Facilitate contractor safety program training and initiatives.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies as needed. Team Structure:
  • Reports to: Site Safety / Industrial Hygiene / Medical Services Manager
  • Collaborates with: Senior Safety Engineer, Industrial Hygiene Specialist, Safety Manager, and contracted medical staff. Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety or Engineering, or equivalent technical experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of safety compliance experience in manufacturing or chemical processing environments. Desired Certifications:
  • Interest in obtaining the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation. Required Skills:
  • Proficiency in occupational safety compliance and ANSI standards.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to engage at all organizational levels.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to plan and execute projects efficiently.
  • Proficient in computer skills and data management. Physical Requirements & Working Environment:
  • Flexibility to adjust work schedule to support safety initiatives on alternate shifts.
  • Ability to meet physical demands of an industrial environment, including working in varying temperatures, climbing, and using ladders. Benefits:
