Job Summary
Levitt-Safety is hiring for a Controller for a 12-month contract, responsible for overseeing financial reporting and analysis. You will manage accounting functions, implement and maintain accounting systems, and provide key financial insights to management.
This role offers the opportunity to work a hybrid model, coming into the office 2-3 times weekly.
Main Responsibilities
- *Financial Reporting and Analysis**:
- Collaborate with Accounting staff to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Maintain thorough financial records and adherence to accounting principles.
- Prepare monthly financial reporting packages and conduct budget variance analysis.
- Work with external auditors and contribute to the annual budgeting process.
- *Management of Accounts Receivable**:
- Recruit, train, and mentor AR staff; ensure policies are adhered to.
- Oversee efficient AR processes within ERP software.
- Manage creditworthiness assessments, credit limits, and collection activities.
- Liaise with credit agencies and assist in managing customer portals.
- Produce AR reporting tools and handle monthly write-offs.
- *Management of Accounts Payable**:
- Assist the Accounting Manager and AP staff as needed.
- Ensure timely payment processing and vendor discount realization.
- *Corporate Governance - Banking**:
- Assist in managing the company's banking relationship and compliance reporting.
- Coordinate with banking personnel on various financial activities.
- *Tax Compliance**:
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial tax agencies.
- Coordinate government audit requests.
- *Insurance**:
- Assist in managing the insurance relationship, including annual reviews and documentation.
- Work with insurance brokers on day-to-day requirements.
- *Levitt Subsidiary Accounting**:
- Maintain accounting records for Levitt United Limited.
- Ensure tax compliance and banking requirements.
- Prepare monthly/quarterly financial statements and year-end schedules for audit purposes.
- *Our ideal person will possess**:
- A degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (CPA designation preferred).
- 5 years in a financial management role with people management experience.
- Solid knowledge of accounting principles, regulations, and reporting standards.
- Proficient in financial programs and software and ERP systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
