Health and Safety Specialist
M Builds*Job Overview*
We are seeking a dedicated Safety Specialist to join our team. The Safety Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring a safe work environment for all employees.
- Responsibilities*
Partner with and support M Builds managers in the implementation and on-going management of our Health & Safety program, including our COR program.
Develop and implement safety policies and procedures.
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and prevent future occurrences.
Provide safety training to employees on various topics.
Monitor compliance with all relevant safety regulations.
Collaborate with management to address safety concerns and implement improvements.
Ensure compliance with the Corporate Health & Safety Program for all employees and project sites.
Inspect properties and projects to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and safe work procedures. Maintain consistent on-site presence for all sites.
Utilize necessary administrative procedures and evaluation tools (ie. audits) required to successfully execute all aspects of the Health & Safety program and regularly monitor the programs’ effectiveness.
Work with major projects team to ensure compliance for new projects as well as participate in and support pre-start meetings with contractors.
Ensure Health and Safety Committees are held and operating effectively.
Ensure employees are compliant for health and safety training for basic compliance and any additional training that may pertain to the individual employee.
Maintain training records and identify gaps.
Ensure health and safety tasks are being completed as required and recorded (ie. mechanical device inspections).
May be required to provide training and/or safety talks to employees.

Proficient in developing and maintaining safety protocols and procedures.
Willing to assist with tasks that may be outside of the scope of work.
Approachable and diplomatic: relates well to all kinds of people and able to build strong relationships.
Dependable and reliable.
Ability to coach and provide effective feedback to all levels.
Experience in dealing with sensitive and/or confidential matters.
Able to facilitate solutions in difficult or stressful situations.
Time management skills and able to prioritize tasks.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
Experience in training development is a plus
