The Team provides specialist, topic-based support to RSD in our strategic risk priority subjects. We share intelligence; we lead inspection & investigation work across RSD in our specialist areas. We help set strategic direction.
Job description
This national role provides specialist support and coordination on Level Crossing safety, legislation, and regulatory processes. As a Level Crossing Safety Advisor, you’ll lead the delivery of core operational activities, manage low to medium complexity projects, and contribute to strategic workstreams.
Acting as a central point of expertise for Level Crossing Orders and Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) recommendations, you’ll help shape improvements in safety and regulatory practice. Working closely with the Level Crossings Lead and Process Coordinator, you’ll collaborate across internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure effective delivery.
The role requires strong analytical skills, sound judgement, and the ability to influence and work across functions. You’ll also support policy development, training, and continuous improvement, while building your expertise in this high-profile area.

Additional Information
At ORR, our hybrid working means that we currently work from our workplace location a minimum of 40% of our working week, although requirements to attend other offsite locations for official business, also count towards this level of attendance. Working arrangements are subject to continuous review.
