This is an opportunity would be ideal for a safety professional looking to begin a career as a Health and Safety Consultant in a contractor role. Ok Koral Services based in the Edmonton area is pleased to be able to provide the opportunity for (1) individual to join our group at this time.
This individual will participate in onsite activity and conducting PIR COR H&S audits through safety associations in Alberta that can include MHSA, ACSA, AASP. AMHSA, CCSA. Industries currently servicing include manufacturing, construction, oilfield and construction and social services. Other opportunities to participate in contract onsite consulting work may also arise out of this position based on demonstrated level of knowledge and skill.
This is an ideal position for someone starting out in consulting and being able to have supplementary work to get started and have an income while continuing to build your consulting/contract safety business.
Skill and Education Requirements
- Two to five years of health and safety experience
- Formal education/course work in Health and Safety and/or training including a certificate program or diploma, equivalencies will be considered.
- Two or more years of working experience in a manufacturing facility
- Auditing knowledge and experience is essential.
- Safety Officer designation would be a significant asset
- Knowledge and understanding of the Alberta OH&S legislation
- Proficient reading and writing in the English language
- Particular attention to detail is a requirement
- Ability to exercise good judgement and to use discretion
- Excellent customer service skills and an ability to provide timely service and meet deadlines is critical
- Conduct a gap analysis of ID’s existing health and safety program
- Personable and ability to treat customers and clients in a friendly and positive manner at all times
- Willing to travel and stay overnight (if necessary and rare), reasonable expenses will be covered
- Ability to act in a professional manner and demonstrate honesty and integrity at all times while performing responsibilities
- Strong company proficiency with Microsoft Word, other programs.
- A working knowledge of the Workplace Health and Safety PIR and COR programs would be an asset
- Experience in developing H&S manuals and/or health and safety management systems would be a definite asset
Training and Skill Development
Where required, training and time will be spent developing auditing and onsite leadership and management skills through formal training courses and through on the job training.
Contractor Requirements
Obtain liability insurance of $2,000,000.00 for business and vehicle
Have or obtain WCB coverage
Availability of your own vehicle in good working condition, and a valid Class 5 Alberta license, a
current Alberta Driver’s Abstract is required.
