  • *Position Description**

The Health and Safety and HR administrator is a vital support role responsible for ensuring workplace safety compliance, promoting employee well-being, and supporting core human resources functions. This position requires a diverse skill set encompassing occupational health and safety, human resources and administrative duties within the organization.

  • *Key Responsibilities**

HR Responsibilities

  • Assist in the recruitment process, including job posting, screening, and scheduling interviews.
  • Administer and maintain employee records, including personal information, benefits, and attendance.
  • Assist in onboarding and orientation processes for new employees.
  • Support HR leadership team with employee relations, including conflict resolution and performance management.
  • Assist in benefits administration, such as health insurance enrollment and claims processing.
  • Handle HR-related inquiries and provide assistance to employees.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of HR policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the coordination of training and development programs for employees.

Health and Safety Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular workplace inspections to identify and address potential safety hazards.
  • Assist in developing and implementing safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Investigate workplace accidents and incidents, compile incident reports, and recommend corrective actions.
  • File necessary documents to WSIB, internally, or with employees
  • Vet and file necessary SDS sheets and PPE according to products onsite
  • Organize and participate in safety training sessions for employees.
  • Ensure Health and Safety Excellence ( Zero lost time incidents)
  • Successful completion of WSIB Excellence program
  • Maintain safety records and reports for regulatory compliance.
  • Document minutes and organize and attend joint health and safety meeting and other safety activities
  • Assist in record keeping and coordination for 3rd party employee training and certifications

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Provide general administrative support, including managing office supplies, scheduling meetings, and handling correspondence.
  • Maintain and organize physical and digital records and documents.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and spreadsheets as needed
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and expense tracking, as directed.
  • Assist in the coordination and communication with staffing agencies.
  • Handle routine administrative tasks and ad-hoc projects as assigned
  • Ensure up to date training in our QMS system

Qualifications and Attributes

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
  • 0-2+ years of experience in a combined HR and H&S role preferred.
  • Knowledge of WSIB processes and Canadian occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with HRIS and payroll systems such as ADP is an asset.
  • JHSC certification is an asset
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of discretion and professionalism in handling confidential information.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet and manage competing deadlines
