Job Description
The Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting the EHS Manager in implementing and operating the organization's EHS management system. Key responsibilities include:
- Remain current on EHS regulatory requirements and technical issues.
- Demonstrate excellent environmental and safety behavior and attitude.
- Serve as subject matter expert and manage corporate driven EHS programs.
- Execute regulatory and EHS leadership training for all employees.
Additional responsibilities include conducting hazard and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with regulatory policies, and analyzing technical data for trends related to hazards and occurrences.
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, collaboration abilities, and good analytical skills. Post-secondary education in a related field is preferred.
This role supports the EHS performance within a site, impacting WCB premium rates and discount/surcharge programs. The financial impact of a safety violation or significant employee injury could have large negative consequences.
Requirements
- Leadership skills – Ability to influence and take others with you.
- Collaboration – Partnering with stakeholders in decision-making.
- 1-3 years working in an EHS capacity – preferred and/or related education/certificate.
- Post Secondary education in a related field preferred.
- Business Acumen – good analytical skills, communicating the WIFM, ROI.
- Communication skills – verbal and written.
- Computer skills – developing charts & reports in Excel, PowerPoint presentations.
