Safety & Environmental Coordinator

Reporting to the Senior Manager, the Safety & Environmental Coordinator is responsible for supporting the safety and environmental programs at S&C. They are responsible for the coordination of all safety and environmental policies, procedures, education, and training for both salary and hourly Team Members. They will provide information and guidance to Managers, Supervisors, and Team Members on safety and environmental matters as necessary.
- *Core Responsibilities**
- Maintain, review and report HSE performance, identifying opportunities for improvement along with implementing preventative and corrective actions as required
- Track progress against environmental goals
- Data gathering for federal, provincial and municipal environmental reporting, KPI reporting and sustainability report
- Maintain sustainability programs focused on waste minimization and maintain landfill-free status
- Oversees the ISO 14001 - Environmental Management System
- Scheduling Hazardous Waste Analysis and Sewer Sampling with outside consultants
- Raise the level of awareness and expertise on sustainability within departments with resources and tools that educate and influence.
- Maintaining various HSE databases including Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Incident Management, PPE Program, Training Program
- Provide or coordinate all HSE training to comply with regulations. This may include working with 3rd party service providers
- Facilitating the new hire health and safety orientation program
- Executes and/or participates in various HSE improvement projects
- *Qualifications**
- Post Secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering / Science, Chemical Engineering or related field
- 3 - 5 years experience in health and safety
- 1 - 3 years of HSE experience working within a manufacturing environment
- Must possess a theoretical and practical knowledge of regulatory EHS standards (Ontario)
- Strong understanding of current safety and loss control practices
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels within the organization
- Strong facilitation skills to effectively communicate safety and environmental procedures in a training environment
- Must be proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
