- *About the Role**
- *Key Responsibilities**
- Advance and manage the organization that develops and deploys safety hardware and safety software systems for customer projects
- Prime interface with customers to define functional safety requirements
- Analysis and management of safety requirements
- Manage and prioritize functional safety work requirements across projects and products
- Coordinate and manage direct/indirect resources to meet project schedules
- Define and produce, either directly or indirectly, required functional safety work products, such as: FMECA, FTA, PHA, RAMS, RTM, SHA, SVM, SRAC, Safety Plan, Safety Case, etc.
- Coach, mentor, and train staff in all aspects of implementing functional safety within the functional areas of systems, software, and hardware design
- Responsible for the planning and execution of external safety audits and assessments
- Identifying and incorporating COTS solutions into Willowglen safety systems
- Support and manage external suppliers for development and supply of safety-related products or services
- *Required Qualifications**
- Degree in electrical engineering, software engineering, or equivalent field of study
- 3 years experience in a functional safety engineering or managerial role
- Experience in the rail industry and CENELEC EN50126, EN50128, EN50129 standards is preferred. Related experience in IEC 61508/61511 industries or the automotive industry and ISO 26262 would also be considered.
- Proven experience in requirements development, design verification, and design validation
- Experience in the safety assessment process from a certified body (e.g., TUV, Exida)
- Knowledge of systems engineering, hardware design, and software design
- Experience with requirements management software tools
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects
- Able to pick up and utilize new technologies and concepts in very short time frames.
- Effectively communicate technical issues, concepts, solutions to non-technical people to build consensus, trust, and decisions.
