POSITION SCOPE

The Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator will implement policies to ensure a safe and healthy work environment. Will engage employees and be instrumental in teaching and enforcing safety policies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

· Plans, organizes and directs all activities of the Safety Committee.

· Inspects the facility to identify safety, health and environmental risks.

· Develops and implements inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections.

· Develops health and safety procedures for all areas of the company.

· Monitor compliance with safety policies and procedures.

· Assures all safety information and policies, including SDS Sheets are maintained and readily accessible.

· Assists the supervisors and management with lean initiatives.

· Maintains all training files of associates including safety and misc training.

· Assist with the planning of training needs and evaluations for all associates.

· Lead and assist with improvement in safety and Worker’s compensation costs.

· Reduce worker’s compensation claims by 10% per year targeting 1% of VAS.

· Achieve training goals as outlined on the Business Action Plan.

· Reduce accident frequency and lost time to BPM goals.

· Complies with all company employment policies, procedures/processes, and programs. Performs duties in compliance quality, safety, and manufacturing requirements.

· Build positive relationships and work cooperatively with associates in a team environment.

· Models and exemplifies Companies Core Values.

· Works required schedule based on business demands.

· Other duties as assigned from time-to-time.

CERTIFICATION, EDUCATION, and WORK EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED

· College degree or 5 years experience in EHS.

· Knowledge of basic math, reading, and writing.

· Ability to work in a team environment

· Material Handling experience.

PREFERRED

· High School Diploma preferred.

PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Please note: Continuously (80%-100%), Frequently (21%-79%), Occasionally (up to 20%)

· Possess good physical stamina and coordination. Specific physical requirements of the position include the ability to continuously and repetitively:

o Sit at a computer for prolonged periods of time.

o Promptly detect and respond to visual and auditory safety instructions, alarms, and signals.

o Wear personal protective equipment on plant floor, for example: safety glasses, gloves, hats, ear plugs, and steel-toed safety shoes.

o Work in a loud manufacturing environment that is not climate controlled (conditions can be hot or cold).

· Frequently and repetitively

o Walk and stand for prolonged periods of time.

· Occasionally

o Lift or carry materials weight up to 20 pounds and periodically care or lift materials weighing up to 50lbs.

o Bend, push, pull, twist, kneel, crouch, and reach to perform work.

· Recognizes potential exposure to mechanical, chemical, electrical, and explosive hazards.
