This highly recognized hospital is seeking a Director of Quality and Risk for an exceptional opportunity to elevate quality, patient safety, and risk programs across the continuum of care. The Director of Quality and Risk role is ideal for a collaborative healthcare leader who is passionate about building a high-reliability culture and optimizing the patient experience.
At this Community Medical Center, the Director of Quality and Risk will serve within a critical access environment supported by engaged board governance and an experienced executive leadership team. The hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission and consistently recognized for strong performance on patient experience and safety measures. Modern diagnostic, surgical, and outpatient services anchor a full-service care continuum designed for access, coordination, and quality.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Patient Care Services/CNO, the Director of Quality and Risk oversees quality, risk management, patient safety, infection prevention, employee health, regulatory compliance, and patient experience functions. Direct reports may include quality analysts, risk and patient safety specialists, infection preventionists, and employee health clinicians. The Director of Quality and Risk partners closely with executive leadership, medical staff officers, nursing directors, department managers, the liability insurance carrier, and the Board Quality Committee to advance system-wide outcomes.
The Director of Quality and Risk leads an organization-wide service line that stewards the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement program, culture-of-safety initiatives, event management system, and survey readiness efforts. The department operates in a collaborative, solutions-focused environment, engaging clinicians, physicians, and operational leaders through interdisciplinary councils and performance improvement teams. High-visibility work includes data transparency, huddle participation, and rounding that supports a proactive, learning organization.
Clinically, the Director of Quality and Risk drives QAPI strategy, peer review support, RCAs and FMEAs, competency and education initiatives, infection prevention surveillance, and patient experience improvement. Administratively, the Director of Quality and Risk ensures regulatory and accreditation readiness, manages grievance investigations and timely resolution, interfaces on claims and risk mitigation, oversees departmental budgets and dashboards, and presents outcomes to leadership and the board. The Director of Quality and Risk standardizes policies and procedures, facilitates training for survey readiness and emergency management, and leverages data to identify trends and sustain improvements.
