The EH&S Manager participates in the implementation of continuous improvement and optimization projects. This position is also responsible for planning, developing and coordinating the environmental, health and safety programs. He/she leads and oversees Environmental, Health Safety initiatives for the site including audits, accident investigation, safety and environment empowerment, delivers training and is a key participant on the JHSC.
- *JOB FUNCTIONS**:_Job functions include, but are not limited to the following_._
- Collects data required for analyses.
- Conducts the required analyses and prepare related reports.
- Detects irregularities and inform the employees in charge.
- Participates in the development, implementation, follow-up and evaluation of GPI’s corporate action plan.
- Develops and implements corporate policies and safety procedures (lock out-tag out, SIMDUT, work in closed spaces etc.)
- Maintains compliance with Federal and Provincial employment regulations.
- Promotes prevention and the adaptation of safe behavior through communication and activities promoting health. Follows-up on prevention program.
- Develops and ensures achievement of the environmental, health safety training plan in the work place. Organizes training sessions when necessary.
- Interprets the different laws and regulations in order to prepare files and represent the employer at the different instances of the Environmental, Health and Safety Commissions.
- Ensures that the different control procedures are followed.
- Acts as change agent and supports management in the achievement of the cultural change with regards to environmental, health and safety objectives in the workplace.
- Participates in different occupational health safety/environmental activities and supports all Environmental, Health and Safety programs, initiatives and GMPs.
- Looks after chemical control process including MSDS.
- Must adhere to Graphic Packaging International’s Commitment to SQF (Safe Quality Foods) and HACCP Requirements, Food Safety, and Food Defense, GMP and supports all Health Safety and Environmental programs.
- *BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE**:
- 3-5 years’ experience in a folding carton plant, or equivalent experience
- Must be both familiar and able to adhere to company safety policies and government legislation (i.e. Occupational Health and Safety Act.).
- Respects individuals, the organization, occupational health safety and environmental authorities, the community and the team.
- Can work in teams.
- Autonomous.

- Ability to take initiative.
- Good communication skills.
- *EDUCATION / SPECIFIC SKILLS**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, or related field preferred or; Compensatory closely related work experience required in lieu of degree.
- Masters and applies occupational health and safety standards as well as security law (Workplace Safety & Insurance Board, occupational health and safety, etc.)
- Masters and applies environment standards.
- Masters and applies organizational quality standards and continuous improvement programs.
- Masters and applies analysis methods.
- Masters and applies occupational health and safety procedures, methods and systems (lock out - tag out, SIMDUT, work in closed spaces, accident survey and analysis, etc.)
- Masters all manufacturing processes and general operations.
- Masters principle of industrial hygiene, ergonomic and toxicology.
- Knows about the indicators used to define the costs incurred by non-quality.
- Masters computer management tools related to position (ERH, Excel, etc.).
- Masters and applies communication and coaching techniques.
- Masters and applies GPI’s philosophy and orientations and or OH&S corporate programs.
