Acting as the day-to-day point of accountability for safety execution, the Safety Supervisor drives consistency, develops staff capability, enforces compliance discipline, and ensures departmental goals are achieved.

Job Duties

  • Oversee Safety Clerks to ensure all daily tasks align with approved SOPs, FMCSA/DOT regulations, and internal safety policies.
  • Document and correct all SOP failures, including driver-related incidents (e.g., accidents, logbook errors, inspection failures) and clerical execution failures (e.g., incomplete audits, missed follow-ups).
  • Coach operators and drivers following any violation or SOP failure, reinforcing expectations and issuing corrective or preventive training where necessary.
  • Serve as the escalation point for all safety violations or incidents identified, ensuring each is properly documented and resolved.
  • Lead weekly KPI and audit review meetings with Safety Clerks, validate proofs of work, and submit summarized reports to the Safety Manager.
  • Oversee operator compliance training, ensuring all requirements are delivered, tracked, and documented accurately.
  • Manage accident and incident response, ensuring each event is handled with urgency, investigated for root cause, and fully documented with corrective actions applied.
  • Monitor and enforce permit processes, confirming permits are ordered by clerks and received by operators on time.
  • Maintain organized documentation of incidents, accidents, corrective actions, compliance audits, and coaching sessions for departmental record.
  • Enforce communication standards for operator and staff interactions, ensuring professionalism, urgency, and accuracy are consistently applied.
  • Collaborate with the Safety Manager to identify recurring issues, policy gaps, or SOP adjustments needed to improve safety compliance and efficiency.
  • Act as the daily accountability point for departmental safety execution, ensuring staff remain on task and department goals are met.

Success in this Role Looks Like

  • Knowledge or the ability to learn DOT and FMCSA Regulations
  • Success developing and monitoring transportation standards
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work well and efficiently with all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated strengths in problem solving, planning, and coordinating initiatives across an organization
  • Strong analytical skills, a high level of motivation and the ability to work independently will be essential
  • A drive to learn, apply their experience, and help reach the vision we have as a company.
  • Ability to provide weekly KPI's accurately and on time, audits, accurate records of compliance training, incidents and any corrective actions
