We are currently seeking a full-time Health and Safety Coordinator to work out of our Hamilton office. If you have the ability to effectively guide, supervise, coordinate, and educate others, are organized, and have a continuous improvement mindset, this career opportunity is for you
Role and Responsibilities
Coordinate annual COR Audit (both internal & external)
Coordinate WSIB Excellence Group Submission
Coordinate off-site safety meetings, training, reviews, audits, etc.
Training various courses including Class 5 and Class 7 forklifts, Hoisting and Rigging and
Aerial Work Platforms
Manage the corporate ergonomic program
Coordinate all safety document management functions with Health & Safety Administrator
Develop, deliver, and update safety orientation to new workers and/or existing workers as required
Develop, deliver, and update other safety related training as knowledge base allows
Develop and coordinate Safety Talks among the various business units
Maintain and coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual safety statistics and metrics
Schedule safety training dates
Develop and distribute safety related memos and other employee communication tools
Manage safety bulletin boards, develop job site safety boards for distribution
Audit, maintain, write, and revise corporate H&S policy
Perform independent safety field work as required
Participate in and/or coordinate job safety analysis, risk analysis, physical demands analysis, pre-start reviews, and any other safety assessment processes as required
Act as an internal customer service centre, liaison with employees/supervisors/managers, anticipate safety needs, and respond proactively
Remain updated on all current safety legislation, policies, procedures, standards, and processes
Engage in continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Related college diploma required or NCSO Designation from IHSA
5+ years’ health and safety related experience required
Training and practical experience as an IHSA COR Auditor (3-4 years’ experience)
Previous experience in construction industry required
Training in adult education required
JH&SC Certified required
First Aid Training (preferred)
Understanding of WSIB Excellence Program
- *Familiarity with online 3rd party platforms including**: Cognibox, ISNetworld, and Avetta (preferred)
Excellent computer skills including the Microsoft Office Suite
