- Safety Administrator - Transportation_
We're seeking for Safety Administrator to implement the company's health and safety policies and procedures, as well as rigorously monitor and ensure adherence to federal, provincial, and municipal safety rules and regulations.
- *Responsibilities**:
The successful applicant will, under direct supervision and guidance of the safety manager:
- Inspect workplace for safety and health hazards
- Investigate workplace incidents and their causation
- Ensure health and safety regulations are followed
- Ensure the company’s health and safety policy and programs are followed
- Drivers and other company personnel are trained, educated, and advocated on workplace health and safety issues.
- Conduct background checks on the driver's safety record, as well as background checks on information concerning employment in a safety-sensitive position that requires alcohol and controlled substance testing.
- Make inquiries to obtain driver’s motor vehicle records
- Prepare health and safety reports necessary
- Proactively manage and maintain driver qualification files
- Monitor hours of service compliance
- Handle the company’s drug & alcohol testing program
- Document and report all health and safety incidents
- Train drivers on topics of Hours of Service, Vehicle Inspections, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Cargo Securement, Speed and Space Management, Defensive Driving, Border-Crossing Security
- Keep all driver’s inventory records organized
- *Requirements**:
- Minimum 4 years experience in Occupational Health and Safety
- College/University certificate/degree in Occupational Health and Safety (is an asset)
- Must possess strong organizational and communication skills
- Self
- Directed and decision-maker
- Ability to handle crisis situations well
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Must have knowledge of Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Highway Traffic Act, Canada Labour Code, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, Hours of Service Regulations, Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations.
- Computer knowledge in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills
- Good team player
- *Salary**: $50,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
