Health/Fire Life Safety Officer

Description

• Perform visual on-site inspections of private, public and commercial property to ensure compliance with health related ordinances, codes and standards.
• Work will be performed with the specific intent to reduce the risk of health and safety concerns and maintain a reasonable level of protection of life and property from the hazards created by disease, illness, fire, explosion, and hazardous materials.

Responsibilities

• Interprets and applies laws, ordinances, rules, regulations and policies as they relate to health related inspection and enforcement duties.
• Issues health related licenses and permits as required by local ordinance or state law.
• Procures, studies and analyzes data concerning local public health and safety issues.

The position requires strong knowledge of state and local health related laws, fire and life safety related laws, codes, ordinances, and standards.

The Health/Fire Life Safety Officer will also serve as the staff liaison to the Board of Health and attend meetings to explain, interpret and provide guidance regarding inspection standards and procedures.
