- *What Does a HSE Internal Auditor Do?**:
The Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Internal Auditor is an integral part of the HSE Department and provides expert support in an auditing function for The Miller Group’s Certificate of RecognitionTM (COR) program. The HSE Internal Auditor provides valued support in the development, implementation, hands on execution, and tracking of other HSE programs including training/orientation, HSE checklists/inspections, Workplace Violence and Harassment Risk Assessments, and more. The HSE Internal Auditor helps to ensure that HSE-based documents are organized and stored centrally, and distributed amongst the HSE Department, as needed.
- *As a HSE Internal Auditor, You Will**:
- Execute all facets of CORTM and EHS compliance audits (pre-audit tasks, on-site activities, reporting, delivering audit findings)
- Prepare CORTM audit packages, including completing reports and corrective action plans, as well as compile documentation for submission of CORTM audits
- Aid external auditors as requested (external auditors may include but are not limited to: Colas Canada, Colas SA, Associate Auditors, government agencies)
- Conduct field assignments; including providing on-site HSE support, formal and informal HSE inspections, and support with implementing follow-up corrective actions as needed
- Participate in the development, delivery, and implementation of training/orientation programs and delivery modes
- Assist Management with Commercial Vehicle Operator Registration (CVOR) data tracking, trends, and reports
- Maintain knowledge of applicable federal/provincial/municipal HSE legislation, and applicable industry standards
- Support the development of risk based HSE audit objectives, scope, and programs (procedures, checklists, questionnaires, methodology) as it aligns with Miller and/or Colas Canada expectations
- Assist in developing, implementing, and using HSE auditing tools and or databases as required and as aligned with Miller and Colas Canada
- Prepare and update audit protocols with applicable HSE audit criteria
- Provide technical advice/recommendations to Management on HSE issues
- Advocate for the Internal Responsibility System (IRS)
- Other duties as assigned
- *What You'll Bring**:
- Diploma in Health and Safety or related field, with 2-5 years’ experience
- Practical experience with CORTM and/or HSE auditing is an asset
- Moderate administrative skills; including attention to detail, and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to meet deadlines under pressure and understands the dynamics of a busy office environment
- Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to gather and analyze information to problem-solve
- Valid G license and access to a personal vehicle to support the travel requirements of the job
- Self-directed, takes initiative, ability to work independently and as part of a team
