**Health and Safety Assistant**

We are a local Excavation company in the process of getting COR Certified. We specialize in excavation, sewer and watermain, demolition, etc. We're primarily serve Durham Region and GTA.

This position will also be responsible for the implementation, monitoring and administration of departmental policies, programs, and procedures in relation to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS). You will be assisting the Health and Safety manager with all associated site inspections, paperwork, implementation, etc.

• *Responsibilities**:
• Conduct and/or assist in the training/orientation of newly hired employees
• Monitor the Health and Safety Policies put forth in our Health and Safety Program primarily on our construction sites Let the Health and Safety manager know if there are any issues to address or improve on.
• Assist with updating/create company policies and procedures in accordance to regulated changes made within our sector
• Create/conduct inspection schedules and maintain corrective item schedule
• Ensure compliance with OH&SA of Ontario
• Help achieve and maintain COR Certification annually
• Actively partake in the company’s Joint Health and Safety Committee
• *Qualification**:
• Educational background in Occupational Health and Safety is a must
• JHSC accreditation an asset
• IHSA Internal COR auditor accreditations an asset
• Ability to work with mínimal supervision
• *Experience**:
• Understanding of the Health and Safety Policies and regulations across Canada
• Knowledge of the OHSA and Construction regulations
• Internal COR auditor experience an asset
• Experience in Microsoft Office software and others such as Adobe PDF
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• *Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
• *Salary**: $20.00-$26.00 per hour

• 10 hour shift

• Health and Safety: 3 years (preferred)
