Safety Officer

Job duties

• Implement safety practices, policies and plans of the company.
• Accept full authority to take any necessary action to maintain overall safe practices and procedures, including the authority to cease an unsafe operating procedure.
• Ensure all equipment and buildings owned or operated by the company comply with safety and fire regulations and any other applicable regulations.
• Overlook the safety requirements of field projects, ensuring deliverables are met on schedule.
• Train employees in safety management best practices.
• Assist with hazard identification and the development of safe work procedures.
• Recommend strategic direction and implement plans based on recent safety audit results.
• Conduct accident investigations as necessary to assist with liability determination and causation.
• *Requirements**:
• 5 years experience as a Safety officer in a similar field (experience in aviation safety would be considered a strong asset)
• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field
• Understanding and knowledge of all Federal, Provincial rules and regulations pertaining to safety codes and Occupational Health and Safety rules
• Experience assessing training needs, creating training materials to fulfill those needs, and then delivering the training
• Advanced written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to train, coach, evaluate and improve others
• Strong time management and prioritization skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Previous experience in airborne geophysics would be considered an asset.

Working Conditions

• Some travel to project sites may be required
