about this team
Our Global Distribution DC Support functions are part of our greater lululemon Supply Chain organization. This team is responsible for the overall Health and Safety, Facilities and Production Control of our North America Distribution Centers. The Safety team plays a business-critical role in ensuring that our DC employees remain safe while at work. They are responsible for maintaining, developing, and implementing safety standards that follow local regulations, statutes, and ordinances. The Health and Safety Supervisor reports to the Health and Safety Manager and will support the health and safety program in the distribution centre and contribute to the overall success of Global fulfilment. This role is a key partner with multiple stakeholders, including the General Managers/Directors of each distribution center or campus, to ensure all employees work in a safe and healthy environment.
a day in the life
- Directs and oversees the assigned team across the entire DC building or campus.
- Responsible for managing the operational performance results of their assigned team.
- Responsible for all aspects of talent management for their hourly direct reports and their results including hiring, training, annual review process, performance management, development and coaching, engagement, off boarding and rewards and recognition.
- Works cross-functionally with key partners within DC to effectively implement and support preventative safety measures.
- Lead high-level safety updates to department operations to support Safety KPIs.
- Leads strategic safety projects and assignments as required under the direction of the Safety Manager.
- Audits and reviews data from real-time observations and provides trends and analysis to DC leadership.
- Supports team in performing investigations to support root cause analysis.
- Effectively manages their budget with full accountability for operational labor and supply costs on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Acts as a coach to their team, playing a hands-on role in their development to build their talent pipeline. They develop their team through vision and goals, coaching, and feedback.
- Accountable for driving DC Safety Program and maintaining a healthy work environment.
- Manages employee performance, including but not limited to Safety KPIs, attendance, vacation, employee separations, annual review, merit process, and documentation.
- Manage health and safety team schedules.
- Produce and deliver health and safety awareness programs to the DC workforce.
- Lead emergency response team for building.
- Maintain health and safety compliance record keeping.
- Support the delivery of Health and Safety training processes (PIT, FA, CPR).
- Partners with P and C S. Advisor on Health and Safety related employee concerns and investigations
- Meet compliance requirements for health and safety training programs.
- Avoid costs from injury incidents and potential regulatory reviews.
- Coordinates worker's compensation program and modified duty work for occupational injuries.
- Advise DC Leadership on DC-specific hazards, risks, and safety opportunities.
- Coordinates safety personal protective equipment (PPE) inventory.
qualifications
- 3-5 years of safety experience in a warehouse or similar environment.
- 2+ years directly or indirectly leading a team of hourly employees.
- Occupational health and safety degree, diploma, or certificate would be an asset.
- Occupational Health and Safety (OSHA) general industry certification and/or pursuing Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or CRSP for Canada designation required.
- Outstanding communication skills, including proven ability to influence all areas of an organization.
- Ability to understand and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ability to lead and maintain a safe work environment.
- Subject to wearing personal protective equipment as defined by the local distribution center.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
- Ability to obtain a powered industrial truck (PIT) operator certification depending on business needs.
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs frequently.
- Flexible and adaptable with schedule which could include nights, working required holidays, some weekends with occasional after-hours requirements.
